Nope! Only the host of the game needs to own the pack. Everyone will have access to the hosts' spectrums for that game session.
Note: Avatars are only available to the owner pack and are not shared with everyone.
Make sure you and your friends are updated to the latest version of Wavelength (the latest is ...). Your app version is located at the lower left corner of the game screen. If anyone in your group is on an older version, you likely won't be able to connect to each other.
If you still can't connect, make sure you and your friends are all in the same region. You can check your region in the game Settings menu. By default it is set to "US, East" but you can change it to another region closer to you. Everyone must be in the same region to play together.
Still having trouble? Here are common causes of connection issues:
- VPNs – VPNs can interfere with the game's connection. Try disabling your VPN.
- Network restrictions – Some Wi-Fi networks (like at hotels, offices, or schools) block the ports the game needs to connect. Try switching to a different Wi-Fi network or turn off Wi-Fi and use your mobile data instead.
- Firewalls or security software – These may block the game from connecting. If you manage your own network, ensure UDP ports 5055-5058 are open.
- Too many players on one network – If lots of players are on the same local network, it can cause issues. Try having some players switch to mobile data.
- Server issues – As a last resort, try switching to a different nearby region in Settings. For example, if "US, East" isn't working, try "US, West" instead.

First, make sure you are logged into the same account that you used to purchase the pack. If you are logged in and still don't see the pack, try restoring your purchases. You can do this by clicking on the "Restore Purchases" button in the Settings menu.
Sometimes deleting and reinstalling the app can help.
If you're still having issues, please send us an email and we'll help you out. If you're an Android user, please include your order number and/or the email you purchased with.
Unfortunately, we do not support transferring purchases between platforms. If you have purchased a pack on Android, then you will have to repurchase it on iOS and vice versa.
We've released Spanish as our first translation and are adding more languages in the coming months. Stay tuned!
As of Nov 19th, 2023, we do support Family Sharing. If you have purchased a pack on iOS, then you can restore your purchase on any other iOS device that is part of your Family Sharing group.
You'll need to gather some friends, family, or colleagues to play with. Unfortunately we don't have any game search system but we may add this in the future.
Wavelength doesn't have built-in voice chat. Start a call on FaceTime, Zoom, Discord, or any video app before you play — the game is all about discussion, so you need to hear each other!
Please feel free to send your feedback within the app as we actively monitor all incoming feedback. If you would like a response, then you're more than welcome to shoot us an email.
Right now we are focused on making sure the game is stable by fixing bugs and any issues with the app experience. We also release regular content updates with new packs and avatars every few months.
Wavelength is a cooperative party game. At the start of each game, every player writes clues for different spectrums — like "Hot – Cold" or "Overrated – Underrated" — so everyone takes a turn as the Psychic. Once clues are locked in, the rest of the game is all about debating and discussion: players see each clue, then discuss where the hidden target is on the spectrum and turn a dial to guess. The closer you get, the more points you score. Everyone plays together as one team.
Yes! Wavelength is completely free to play with no ads. There are optional content packs you can purchase ($0.99 – $4.99) that add new spectrums and avatars, but the base game is fully playable for free.
Wavelength is currently available on iOS and Android only. There is no PC, Mac, or web version at this time.
Wavelength supports 2 to 10 players. The game is fully cooperative, so it works great with any group size — even just two people. You can technically have more than 10 players in a room, but the experience may become unreliable with larger groups.
The debate is the game! Wavelength is designed so that the fun comes from players debating where the target is — that back-and-forth discussion is the whole point. If everyone just guessed silently, you'd miss the best part.
That said, if your group gets stuck, the Host can force the game to the next round at any time. This locks in the dial at its current position and moves on, so one stubborn disagreement won't hold up the whole game.
Yes! Wavelength started as a tabletop board game in 2019, designed by Alex Hague, Justin Vickers, and Wolfgang Warsch. The board game is played as two teams competing against each other, while the app is 100% cooperative. You can buy the board game from CMYK Games, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble.
No, Wavelength requires an internet connection to play. Players connect to each other through online servers, even when playing in the same room.
